On September 29, Help at Home Senior Care had the incredible honor of bringing together families, friends, community partners and an extraordinary group of local seniors to celebrate a milestone few people have the privilege of reaching: 100 years of life.
Held at the beautiful National Automobile Museum in Reno, this special celebration was created to honor local centenarians—their lives, their stories, their accomplishments and the lasting impact they have made on their families and communities.
We were honored to celebrate 10 centenarians in person, along with special recognition for several additional centenarians who were unable to attend.
The National Automobile Museum generously welcomed us into its beautiful space and provided a memorable setting for this meaningful occasion. We are deeply grateful for their hospitality and for the many community partners who helped us connect with local centenarians, spread the word and contribute refreshments and thoughtful touches throughout the event.
Each centenarian received a Certificate of Commendation from United States Senator Catherine Cortez-Masto, recognizing their remarkable milestone and celebrating a lifetime of contributions to their community and the legacy they have created.
They also received a Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition from the office of U.S. Senator Jacky Rosen in celebration of reaching 100 years of age.
Adding another special touch to the celebration, a representative from the City of Reno presented each honoree with a Key to the City from Mayor Hillary Schieve's office.
These recognitions represented much more than certificates and awards. They were a reflection of the extraordinary lives represented in that room—100 + years filled with family milestones, friendships, careers, challenges, accomplishments, change and countless memories.
While the recognitions were certainly meaningful, one of the most memorable parts of the celebration was simply listening.
Our centenarians shared stories about their lives and reflected on some of the experiences they believe contributed to their longevity. We heard stories of family, work, love, perseverance, community and the incredible changes they have witnessed over the course of a century.
Perhaps even more touching was watching their families and friends gather around them.
Children, grandchildren, friends and loved ones came together to celebrate these remarkable milestones. It was a beautiful reminder that reaching 100 + is about so much more than a number. It is about the relationships built, the people loved, the challenges overcome and the memories created along the way.
Every person in the room had a story.
And every story was worth hearing.
An event like this doesn't happen because of one organization. It happens when a community comes together.
We are incredibly grateful to the organizations and individuals who helped us locate and connect with local centenarians, spread the word and contribute their time and support.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to Rehab Without Walls, Dignified Aging Strategies, Sierra Nevada Home Health, Hospice Services of Reno, Compassion Care Hospice, Allison MacKenzie Law, GMT Care, Morning Star Senior Living Sparks and Clearwater at Rancharrah for generously contributing refreshments and helping make this celebration such a warm and welcoming experience for our honorees and their families.
Community partnerships like these are what make meaningful celebrations possible. We are grateful to work alongside organizations that share our commitment to supporting, honoring and serving older adults in the Reno community.
We also want to give special recognition to Jodi Jantz for her tremendous work helping bring this celebration together. Her dedication, organization and countless efforts played an important role in making this event possible.
And our deepest thanks go to the National Automobile Museum for welcoming us and providing such a wonderful setting for this special celebration.
What made this celebration so special was not simply the milestone of reaching 100+ years. It was the opportunity to pause, gather together and recognize the remarkable lives behind that milestone.
We are grateful to every centenarian, family member, friend and community partner who joined us and helped make the day so memorable. It was a privilege to hear the stories, share the laughter and celebrate alongside the people who have made such a lasting impact on their families and our community.
To each of the centenarians we celebrated, congratulations on 100 + years and on the incredible legacy you have created. Thank you for allowing Help at Home Senior Care to be part of your celebration.
We look forward to continuing this special tradition and creating more opportunities to recognize and celebrate the older adults who make our community so special.
